Su investigación se ha centrado en la esclerosis múltiple (EM), el estudio de la vía visual como modelo de neurodegeneración y la identificación de biomarcadores con valor diagnóstico y pronóstico. Tras desarrollar su trayectoria en un centro de referencia internacional (Cemcat, Hospital Vall d’Hebron), actualmente lidera un grupo de investigación emergente en el Institut de Recerca del Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau, con el objetivo de consolidar una línea de investigación estable en neurología autoinmune y biomarcadores en patologías del SNC. Su experiencia en el liderazgo de proyectos competitivos, su participación en redes internacionales y su contribución al desarrollo de los nuevos criterios diagnósticos de la EM refuerzan su trayectoria en este campo. En ese sentido, ha sido investigadora principal de dos proyectos financiados por el Instituto de Salud Carlos III: PI22/01589 y PI17/02162, que han permitido estudiar la vía visual desde las fases iniciales de la EM y han generado resultados clave en el ámbito del diagnóstico precoz y los resultados han sido incorporados en la nueva revisión de los criterios diagnósticos.

Barry brings with him seven years’ experience as a Biomedical Engineer and Sr. Scientific Reviewer at FDA/CDRH/ODE and FDA’s Boston District. This government experience was followed with over 17 years in midlevel and executive management positions in small start-up/large multinational medical device companies.  Market responsibilities included United States, EU, South America, Canada, Japan and South Korea. Barry has extensive experience with product development and FDA negotiations of US regulatory strategy (EUA, DeNovo 510(k) with clinical data, Breakthrough Designation, etc.). In the area of diagnostics this experience includes diagnostic devices for COVID-19, diagnostics using biomarkers in sweat, diagnostics using breath (diabetes and lung cancer), measurement of radiation exposure, and diagnosis of stroke.  He has written multiple 510(k)s, IDEs, and PMAs in cardiovascular,  orthopedic/sports medicine, spine, general surgery, gastroenterology, neurology/neurosurgery, and Ob/Gyn. Technologies embedded in these products included Machine Learning/AI, 3D Printing, and Software.

Previously, he had 10 years of professional experience in the design and development and quality assurance of sterile non active medical devices in the medical devices industry. As Lead Auditor, Project Handler and Technical Documentation assessor, Carlo is actively driving MDR (EU) Regulation 2017/745 conformity assessment activities in Italy and internationally as well as MDSAP, ISO 13485 and other regulatory schemes.

Carlos is a graduate in Leadership, Entrepreneurship and Innovation from the University of Mondragon. He has six years of professional experience in the management of digital business projects, through his career he founded of a digitalization and innovation consultancy named MAKNAD (2017 - 2020) that operated internationally working in San Francisco and Paris. Thanks to his education and professional experience, Carlos has diverse knowledge and skills in project management, growth strategies, funding, business strategy and digital marketing.

In december 2020 he founded TRAK, an AI powered digital physiotherapy medical software.

Diana Heinrichs, CEO and founder of LINDERA, is specialized in AI-based 3D-motion analysis for MedTech and elder care applications. Ellie is an advocate for centering creativity, storytelling, and emotional expression in the way schools approach social-emotional learning and trauma sensitive practices. Ellie has supported this approach as a literacy researcher, k-12 teacher educator, high school English teacher, and as an activist for youth experiencing homelessness.
