The upcoming Health Revolution Congress on May 17th is the largest European Summit in Digital Health, where global startups & stakeholders join forces in Barcelona. The event, powered by Barcelona Health Hub, provides you inside knowledge of cutting-edge technologies, new tendencies and future solutions. Let’s explore today’s digital health solutions for tomorrow’s health!
One of the companies you can meet at the Health Revolution Congress is BHH member MAPFRE. This global insurance company with a worldwide presence is the benchmark insurer in the Spanish market and the largest Spanish multinational insurance group in the world. It is the leading insurance group in Latin America and is ranked sixth in Europe by Non-Life premium volume. Savia, MAPFRE‘s digital health services, offers a wide range of solutions that give users total control over their own health. The mobile-first service has recently added two new services to its offer: digital personal doctor, which allows patients to have a trusted professional who is responsible for personalized monitoring of their health; and digital hospital, a concept that brings together online and on-site medical services in one same space, available to customers 365 days a year.
Today we meet with Juan Cumbrado, Innovation Director at MAPFRE Spain, who will share with us more about their expectations for the Health Revolution Congress.
Mr. Cumbrado, we’re looking forward to seeing you at the Health Revolution Congress. Can you please introduce yourself and tell us about Mapfre?
I am Juan Cumbrado, Innovation Director at MAPFRE Spain. MAPFRE is a global insurance company , present in more than 38 countries. Our company, which has more than 31 million clients, close to 32.000 employees and around 5.000 offices, stands out for being the insurance company of reference in Spain, as well as leading the sector in Latin America and being among the top 10 in Europe in terms of premium volume.
Innovation is in our DNA. We are always in continuous transformation, in order to respond to the new needs and habits of our clients. MAPFRE has its own open innovation platform, MOi (MAPFRE Open Innovation), in charge of leading transformational initiatives to create new products and services and improve existing ones. In this regard, it should be noted that we understand transformation as a people-centered process, where the humanization of technology is the key to progress.
I would also like to point out that health is one of MAPFRE‘s main areas of innovation. Our company has been committed to digital health and its advantages for years, with a vision of telemedicine focused on three fundamental aspects: technology, personalization and prevention.
Proof of this strong commitment to digital health is our telemedicine platform for insured and uninsured, Savia, which already has more than 440,000 registered users.
Can you elaborate about what’s new at MAPFRE these days?
In recent months we have presented important new developments in the field of digital health. Firstly, we have renewed our health app, which incorporates all of Savia’s innovation and digital experience, making it more intuitive to use and with more complete content.
In addition, as part of our strong commitment to telemedicine, we have launched an innovative pilot of digital physiotherapy, in collaboration with the startup Trak, to offer in our own medical centers in Spain a pioneering service, based on artificial intelligence, which allows patients to be treated remotely, from their own home. With this innovative project, we have entered into the phygital concept, a trend that manages to enhance the user experience through the mix of physical (offline) and digital (online) aspects.
We have also incorporated new features in Savia, making two new services available to users: digital personal doctor, which allows patients to have a trusted professional who is responsible for personalized monitoring of their health; and digital hospital, a concept that brings together online and on-site medical services in one same space, available to customers 365 days a year.
Finally, I would like to highlight the pilot project we are working on with the startup Saturno Labs and the IPES (Institute for Emotion and Health Psychology) to care for and improve the mental health of senior citizens. This project, through technology, seeks to combat the loneliness of the elderly and improve their quality of life.
Barcelona Health Hub is thrilled to have you at this largest European congress in digital health. Could you share why you decided to join the Health Revolution Congress?
As a leading company in the insurance sector and committed to the health care and well-being of our clients, we consider it essential to be at the forefront of the latest trends and advances in the area of digital health.
MAPFRE has been committed to digital health and its benefits for years. And it is precisely this strong commitment to telemedicine that leads us to want to be present at the Health Revolution Congress.
Being part of this event, which will bring together some of the main players in the field of digital health, will allow us to exchange knowledge, experiences and trends, as well as continue learning and evolving in this exciting industry.
You’re also participating in the panel about “From Prevention to Prediction: How Insurers are Transforming the Patient Experience”. Can you tell us what would be your key message at the panel?
Our message in this panel will focus on highlighting the key role that insurers play in the transformation of the patient experience, explaining, through our own example, how insurers can leverage technology to improve the quality of health services that clients receive.
In this respect, at MAPFRE we have taken advantage of the opportunities offered by digitalization and new technologies to offer our clients more accessible, higher quality and more personalized health services. Telemedicine has allowed us to simplify processes, eliminate administrative barriers and offer clients the possibility of taking control of their health from anywhere and at any time.
Furthermore, in relation to disease prediction and prevention, the main topic of the panel, it is worth mentioning that, thanks to the implementation of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and data analysis, insurers can now carry out an exhaustive analysis of patients medical record, in order to identify patterns and potential health risks and take preventive measures to avoid major problems. However, we must always keep in mind that the privacy and security of customer data must be our priority at all times.
What are you excited about for the Health Revolution Congress?
We believe this event is a unique opportunity to connect with other leaders in the digital health sector, exchange knowledge, share experiences and learn from other participating companies. It is, for sure, a great chance to continuing to advance our mission to offer innovative and high quality services that improve the health and well-being of our customers.
In addition, one of the most striking aspects of the congress for us is the opportunity to discover new trends and developments in the telemedicine sector, which will help us to continue improving our products and services in this field.
